I know the character page is a bit sparsethanks Aselia wiki you're as useless as ever so here's a basic rundown of Law's role in the game and overall backstory.
Law was born as the only son of Zephyr, leading of the Crimson Crows, the Dahnan Resistance force in Calaglia. Due to the ways Dahnans were treated by their Renan overlords, Law's birth was kept secret so that he wouldn't be enslaved and embedded with a Spirit Core like his fellows were. He spent his life growing up mostly with his mother, not fully grasping how much his father loved him or how hard he was working to try and make a better life for Law, always leading the charge against their oppressors and trying to improve life for the enslaved in whatever way he could. Zephyr's mother, also a resistance fighter, loses her life to an unspecified illness, and Law blames his father for it, believing he cared more about fighting than his family.
It's not long after that, that Law rebels against his father, holding him responsible for their family falling apart, and leaves him, managing to escape Calaglia and fleeing to the neighboring Cyslodia by stowing away in a wagon. There, after a tragic incident involving the deaths of his newfound comrades in Cyslodia, Law finds himself conscripted into the Snake Eyes, the secret police force of Cyslodia, meant to take down dissidents in the region. Law did the job not with malice in his heart, but because he did what he had to in order to survive in the frozen land.
Life finds a way, and he eventually finds himself in a confrontation with his estranged father after the latter accompanies Alphen and Shionne to Cyslodia. Law has a change of heart after his actions result in the death of Zephyr--but not before he learns his father's true feelings for him. He joins Alphen and co in overthrowing Ganabelt, freeing the region, and then accompanying the group in their journeys across the world for the rest of the game.
Personality:
When Law first appears, he comes across as a serious, dour young man, who keeps his emotions tightly under wraps. He's driven by bitterness, resentment, and survivor's guilt, doing what he thinks he has to in order to keep surviving, even if it means working for the enemy. When he realizes he was being used by the enemy to get to his father, resulting in the latter's death, those tightly wound emotions became unraveled, and he became possessed by his hatred, want for vengeance, and his ever growing survivor's guilt. And when that revenge was achieved, and his hatred faded, all that was left was a young man who had nothing left to live for. He'd lost his friends, his family, his reason to keep going, and all he had left was the burder of knowing he was the one who survived.
Meeting Alphen, however, gave him the strength to continue, and taught him to live for more than just his revenge. He gave him a new lease on life and a new cause to fight for. Just because you've made mistakes doesn't mean you need to keep making mistakes in the future, right? This was the lesson that Alphen had learned from Zephyr: to not just survive, but to live and find the meaning to llving, and it was this lesson he passed onto Law.
Law is a young man who, at his core, is loyal to the people he cares about. His selfishness in the past has cost him a lot, and so he's resolved himself to always stand by those that matter to him. He wants to be as strong as he possibly can, not for the sake of strength itself, or to bear some prestigious title, but so he can make sure he always has the strength to fight for what's dear to him.
He's hotblooded and impulsive, always the first to charge into action. While others are debating a course of action, he's already decided his course of action is to "run in and punch it". He's quick to provoke, and wears his emotions openly, no longer content to bottle them up like in his Snake Eyes days. But despite being easily fired up, he's friendly and cares deeply for others. He adapts quickly and easily to different social situations, and always loves to really liven up the mood: don't mind him as he decides to play emcee for an impromptu cooking contest! He's passionate and spirited, giving his all to whatever he does, be it training, fighting, or just a simple conversation between friends.
Law comes across as someone who seems unintelligent, but that simply isn't true about him. While he's naive and inexperienced, even coming across inexperienced at times, and tends to say things without fully thinking about how they might come across to others, he's also sharp and intuitive, and also shows a deep willingness to grow and learn, wanting to be a better person today than he was yesterday.
Despite all that though, Law is still weighed down by the burdens of his past, and struggles to relieve himself of it. He doesn't blame himself for what happened, understanding that living in the past like that doesn't let him live in the present, much less for the future, but he constantly worries that others affected by his past actions do. He can't control what others think of him, and he won't blame others for holding him responsible for what he's caused. After all, his childish actions cost people their loved ones and livelihoods, and even resulted in a group that once was like family to him to lose their beloved leader; why shouldn't they blame him?
On that note, even if others don't blame him, Law holds himself personally responsible for what he's done. He's quick to join Alphen in helping others with their personal problems and woes, and works hard not to just make things right for people, but to make things better, no matter how small it might be. His father, Zephyr, strove to inspire people, to never give up on themselves or on others, and to keep fighting, and Law wants to be able to do the same, to encourage others to live for the eventual future just as he has chosen to do.
Abilities & Inventory:
Abilities:
Law is the martial artist of the series, possessing high speed and strength, as well as proficiency in using his arms and legs to fight, to great effect. He's also . able to control and channel his inner spirit energy, using it to heal himself, augment his strength further, or focus it all into a single, well-aimed blow powerful enough to shatter rocks or even the toughest armors. Here is a list of his artes.
As a (former) member of the Snake Eyes, Law is trained in a number of espionage skills. Despite his impulsive nature, he possesses the ability to observe his environment, gather information, and formulate a plan of attack for himself. He's even trained in sabotage. With these skills, he's even able to wordlessly and effortlessly get the drop on Kisara, decorated captain of the Elde Menencian knights when the latter attempts to tail the party during that portion of the story. If only he had the sort of calm, tactical nature that could use such an ability to its full potential...
Law also displays a high aptitude for working with animals that surprises even him. When the party inherits farmland in exchange for helping a farmer out, Law proves himself to be a real natural at raising and taking care of livestock, even seemingly being able to understand their thoughts and feelings despite not being able to speak to them.
Inventory:
Silver Wolf Vest (his normal outfit)
Unyielding Braces (weapon)
Zephyr's Ring
Zephyr's letter
Suitability & Plans:
Law's a person who both drives his emotions and is driven by them, so putting him in a place where that could actually impact could be fun. He's got a lot of issues that the game doesn't fully explore due to not being quite as character-driven as other games in the franchise, which I think could be interesting to mess with in the game's setting in various ways.
